Q&A with @run.lana.run

We'd love know how you got into running?

When I first left home for University, I found myself miles from home, unhappy with my course, eating terribly and not really making many friends. I put on quite a bit of weight and was really unhappy. I returned home for Christmas and my Dad took me for a run. And whilst I hated the run, I caught the bug!

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

I'm 27 from Yorkshire, and love to run, hike, swim and go to the gym! I've always been active, from being a child hiking in the Peak District with my family. The older I've got the more exercise has become a daily routine of mine. I started running in 2016 and it's since changed my life!

Who or what inspires you to be active?

My Dad. My Dad has been running for most of my life, I still remember going to races when I was a child and supporting him alongside my Mum. He first did the Rotherham Round 50 mile race (around our home town) when I was 12, and from that moment on I was determined to do it with him one day. We did, in 2021!

You recently did the Rotherham Round 50 and Yorkshire Marathon. Can you tell us a little more?

2021 was my best year for running and hiking, yet! As we were coming out of the Pandemic, I had a few races booked in that year that had been postponed from previous years. It was going to be a busy one. But also the most challenging. My Dad, Auntie and I were all signed up to the Rotherham Round 50 (to hike). The Yorkshire Marathon was rescheduled only 6 days later.  After 10 months of consistent training and dedication, we smashed both! Since then, life has been a little different, but I'm working back to this fitness for 2024!

What's your favourite Pretty Athletic product and why?

I don't just have the one favourite product, but a couple. Until I discovered Pretty Athletic I didn't have a skincare routine, and found my skin to be quite spotty, dry and oily all at the same time. I've now tried all of the products, and a combination of the Sweatproof: Neutralising Hydration Gel and the Pretty Athletic Cool Down Purifying Gel Cleanser. They smell amazing, feel silky smooth and have done wonders for my skin. I use them both at least once per day.

What are your kit bag essentials?

As I said above, I love the Gel and Gel Cleanser, so make sure these are always, always in my travel bag – no matter where I go. I also love the Rescue Balm, a perfectly sized product for taking with you everywhere. You'll always find me carrying this on hikes and runs. Other kit bag essentials: fresh undies and socks, spare clothes (I like to cross-train), oh, and don't forget the snacks!
